Hoya cv. 'Minibelle'

Minibelle is in full bloom and I find has one of the nicer scents, especially for sleeping at night!

Hoya kerri

Finally it opened and looking stunning! It just opened last night and I wanted to get the picture before it started to drip badly. Its a bit of a messy hoya bloom but worth it.

Hoya cv. Minibelle blooms

One of my favourites and probably the plant I have the most pictures of is this one. Minibelle has started growing like crazy for the last month or more. The bloom is round and cute and a very pretty. This one is always a dependable bloomer this time of year.

Hoya fungii buds

Hoya fungii is going to bloom soon. The plant is fairly small with 2 peduncles growing. I think this will be a larger bloom and I am anticipating the bloom so I can photograph it some more!

Hoya kerrii buds

Here are a few buds from Hoya kerrii. I am quite looking forward to this one blooming, mess and all as its very drippy! It hasn't bloomed for me in 2 years so a bit of a wait since the last time.

Hoya pubicalyx 'Pink Silver'

Finally after 4 years, this pubicalyx decided to bloom. At the moment there is about 5 peduncles but only 2 plumped up to bloom and the one blasted. Not much of a scent to my nose but quite a pretty bloom and colour too.

Hoya carnosa

The first Hoya carnosa bloom on this particular plant. It blasted last year and didn't try to rebloom until this spring.

Hoya australis

Been awhile since i have posted any bloom pics as its been awhile since anything has bloomed! Finally after the first bud blast, Hoya australis decided to go to full term and bloom for me. Nice scent and pretty flowers. If you look close in the first photo, another set of buds have started to form even before these ones were open. I am not sure the subspecies of this one but the leaves are pubescent on both sides with twining growth.

A Few Hoya Blooms

A few blooming at the moment: Obscura in the top picture, curtisii in the middle and nummularioides at the bottom. Curtisii will out scent all of them, especially at night!

Hoya carnosa

Well I shouldn't say there has been no blooms. This Hoya carnosa is trellised and sitting next to a double decker set of grow lights. To my surprise, its decided to bloom. I still don't really like the scent but I sure love its bloom. It has more of a pink cast than how it photographed but only a very light pink.

Unique leaves

Happy New Year! Since there are not too many hoyas blooming this time of year, I decided to take some pics of some of the weird and wacky leaves, especially the Hoya compacta leaves. The second pic is of Hoya compacta variegata. The last 2 photos of Hoya compacta (green) and the first photo is of Hoya obscura. Some of the leaves on it have become very red veined from the grow lights. Its rather pretty and showy.

Hoya nummularioides

Little Hoya nummularioides finally decided to bloom albeit a bit late for it but probably due to being under grow lights. Its small but fragrant and many buds yet to bloom. I find it puts out a lot of growth in a short time then stops for a very long time.

Hoya DS-70 bloom

DS-70 seems to want to bloom for me in the winter. These are delicate little blooms and a bit hard to photograph. I don't find them one of the nicer smelling hoyas but everybody's nose is different! It's a bonus to see it blooming as I really like the foliage on this hoya.

Hoya curtisii bloom

Hoya curtisii decided to bloom again under my lights. There was no mistaken with my nose as it smelled like citrus. I can't imagine what a multiple of blooms would smell like, all open at once!

Minibelle Blooms

More blooms on Hoya cv "Minibelle". Too bad fall has begun and growth and blooming will slow down. I really enjoy this one blooming. Its not as overpowering as Hoya carnosa and more delicate pink yet a nice size bloom.

Cyrtoceras floribundum

This was bought as Hoya multiflora but it has now been confirmed as Cyrtoceras floribundum but either way, its a lovely bloom and lasts for up to 2-3 weeks. It has finally bloomed for me after having these cuttings since last summer. Its not my favourite foliage plant but the blooms are interesting and unique.

Hoya davidcummingii

I came into the room tonight and smelled this butterscotch scent then I knew this little bud had opened up finally. Its quite a nice scent, similar to H. DS-70 but even nicer. Hopefully it last a few more days.

Hoya obscura (IML 1003)

I received this in my David Liddle order in May 2007. Its turned out to be a lovely foliage plant. In his catalogue, he describes it as "Philippines - a much more colourful clone with red leaves". Mine is grown under grow lights for right now. I look forward to some blooms down the road.

Hoya cv. Christine

I received this from a trading friend - Hoya cv. Christine - already rooted too! I must say I really love the foliage. Its a H. subquintuplinervis X H. pottsii hybrid and so far, it is a compact grower. I have read it stays compact as it grows. I sure hope so. The foliage to me is quite appealing. It does have a dormant peduncle but you cannot see it in the photo.
