Hoya nummularioides

Little Hoya nummularioides finally decided to bloom albeit a bit late for it but probably due to being under grow lights. Its small but fragrant and many buds yet to bloom. I find it puts out a lot of growth in a short time then stops for a very long time.

Hoya DS-70 bloom

DS-70 seems to want to bloom for me in the winter. These are delicate little blooms and a bit hard to photograph. I don't find them one of the nicer smelling hoyas but everybody's nose is different! It's a bonus to see it blooming as I really like the foliage on this hoya.

Hoya curtisii bloom

Hoya curtisii decided to bloom again under my lights. There was no mistaken with my nose as it smelled like citrus. I can't imagine what a multiple of blooms would smell like, all open at once!

Minibelle Blooms

More blooms on Hoya cv "Minibelle". Too bad fall has begun and growth and blooming will slow down. I really enjoy this one blooming. Its not as overpowering as Hoya carnosa and more delicate pink yet a nice size bloom.

Cyrtoceras floribundum

This was bought as Hoya multiflora but it has now been confirmed as Cyrtoceras floribundum but either way, its a lovely bloom and lasts for up to 2-3 weeks. It has finally bloomed for me after having these cuttings since last summer. Its not my favourite foliage plant but the blooms are interesting and unique.

Hoya davidcummingii

I came into the room tonight and smelled this butterscotch scent then I knew this little bud had opened up finally. Its quite a nice scent, similar to H. DS-70 but even nicer. Hopefully it last a few more days.

Hoya obscura (IML 1003)

I received this in my David Liddle order in May 2007. Its turned out to be a lovely foliage plant. In his catalogue, he describes it as "Philippines - a much more colourful clone with red leaves". Mine is grown under grow lights for right now. I look forward to some blooms down the road.

Hoya cv. Christine

I received this from a trading friend - Hoya cv. Christine - already rooted too! I must say I really love the foliage. Its a H. subquintuplinervis X H. pottsii hybrid and so far, it is a compact grower. I have read it stays compact as it grows. I sure hope so. The foliage to me is quite appealing. It does have a dormant peduncle but you cannot see it in the photo.

Hoya heuschkeliana (Yellow)

The peduncle on the Hoya heuschkeliana cutting decided to plump up when i was rooting it. I thought it would blast but it decided to go ahead and bloom. It smells like butterscotch to me, especially at night. The scent seems very similar to Hoya DS-70. It is very tiny but cute. It was one of the cutting received in the David Liddle order.

Thought I would show was was blooming or almost blooming today. Starting at the top: Hoya bella, Hoya lacunosa, Hoya shepherdii and Hoya carnosa (soon).

Hoya shepherdii

Well Hoya shepherdii made it to bloom finally. Not sure if the last 2 buds will open, they seem to be taking their time. Its a nice scent and starting to become a fast grower also.

Hoya cv 'Minibelle'

Minibelle was busy doing its thing this year. I counted 11 blooms this year. Needless to say, the bedroom is quite fragrant at night. This is one easy bloomer. Wish they all were!

Hoya pusilla

Hoya pusilla is a cute little bloom from a cute little plant. It has a delicate smell but I can't place my finger on what it is. Very subtle though.

Hoya shepherdii peduncle

A dormant peduncle that developed last fall looks like it will do something finally! I read the scent of shepherdii is very nice and like Hoya cv. 'Minibelle', the foliage is very nice too.

Hoya polyneura

A newly potted polyneura. Hope i can make this one thrive. I hear its a bit tricky although I am in the right climate - the West Coast of BC, nice and rainy here!

Hoya cv. Minibelle

Hoya cv. Minibelle is ready to bloom soon. This is one easy grower and bloomer. I love this particular hoya.

Hoya lacunosa

Soon to be blooming lacunosa. Wish the blooms would last a bit longer.

Big Pink Silver

A picture of my Hoya pubicalyx 'Pink Silver' taken first when i received it in the summer 2004 and a comparative to now, May 2007. It has overtaken the trellis and growing like gangbusters but still no blooms. This year, I have kicked it outside.

Hoya curtisii

Hoya curtisii finally burst open and it has quite a fragrance! The room smelled like citrus this morning.

Spiraling carnosa

Well if it won't bloom, the foliage is the next best thing - so colourful and pleasing to the eye. I guess thats why collecting hoyas has become such a passion for many people.

Hoya curtisii peduncle

I noticed this hoya curtisii peduncle tucked away. It seems to be getting bigger now and I am hoping to see this one bloom. Just added another picture (April 18, 2007) and its getting even bigger. Its a very dark peduncle too.

Hoya carnosa plant

Well I finally got around to taking a pic of my H. carnosa plant before the blooms finished. I am sure its probably done for the year. Here i thought I couldn't smell any scent but at night, it was there! Subtle but definately hoya smelling.

Carnosa Peduncle Plumping Up!

Back in Sept. 06, my Carnosa decided to get a few peduncles. Of course, all winter long, things have been dormant. Now the days are getting a wee bit longer and I see this little guy getting bigger! The wait begins and I hope I don't jinx it by taking a pic of it before its done anything!

I added two more pics to this post today (Feb. 27, 2007) and its getting closer to open - its a waiting game now.
Well carnosa finally started opening its bloom last night and this morning, was all open. I don't detect a smell. My nose must be shot! Its one lovely flower.

Hoya Strangeness

The top plant was a cutting of this H. cv. Krimson Princess. I wanted to try an experiment to see if the cutting I took would revert back to the leaf colour and pattern of the mother plant but it didn't. It looks like some variant of H. pubicalyx.

H. holliana

This grows under my grow lights also. It took awhile to get going but finally it seems to have found a growth spurt in the last while. It wasnt the easiest hoya to root either. I like how the new leaves have a reddish hue before turning green.

Another H. lacunosa Bloom

Despite it being wintertime, any bloom is welcome. This one happens to grow under my grow lights also. This fragrance fills up a room even though only one bloom is open. Please excuse my very "unmanicured" hands. Apparently, they look much worse in a picture!

Variegated H. bella Bloom

A little up and coming bloom from my variegated H. bella. It seems to like it under the grow lights.
